A small cottage in Cary, NC
This 108 year old cottage in downtown Cary was remodeled by Code Green Renovation & Construction.  As part of the green renovation, they installed a SolarHot thermal hot water heater from Yes! Solar Solutions to reduce the energy usage and cost.  Hoping for a reduction in the electricity bill, they succeeded beyond their expectations.  With plenty of  hot water and one solar panel on the back of their roof, their utility bill has continued to go down, first 25-30%, and then less than half of the bill before the installation.  Solar thermal is a smaller investment than solar photovoltaic but can impact energy use and cost, and still qualifies for tax credits.  This home was featured on the  Wake  Green Building and Solar Tour and a recent article in the Cary News.

A Large home in Wake Forest, NC
When this couple decided to install solar photovoltaic panels on their roof, it was after a few years of deliberation.  Their roof was heavily shaded, but they were highly motivated to gain some independence from the utility company, and had already looked at a number of other ways to save energy and cost.  After making the decision to install the PV system, they reconsidered, and decided to increase the size of the system as well as cut down some trees to increase the effieciency of energy they could generate.  The environmental analysis Yes! Solar Solutions showed them projected the CO2 emissions saved by generating electricity was equivalent to the planting hundreds of trees every year.  Code Green Renovation & Construction performed the repairs they needed to install the system.  This home’s solar installation  was featured in an article in Cary magazine.
