HOW SOLAR WORKS
A photovoltaic solar power system is a combination of solar modules wired in series to form an array designed to meet a predetermined electricity demand. Solar modules are comprised of multiple solar cells. The solar cells capture energy from sunlight and convert it into electricity. This conversion process occurs because of the special properties of the semi-conducting materials (silicon) from which solar cells are made.

When the sun shines on the solar modules of a system, they produce direct current (DC) electricity. This electricity is transmitted from the modules to an electronic inverter which converts the DC electricity to alternating current (AC). The AC electricity is then transmitted to the grid, where it is distributed.

Installation of a residential solar system is relatively simple and in most instances can be completed in less than a week. A typical residential installation begins with the installation of a racking system. The racking system is the framework that your solar modules are mounted to.

Once racking is complete modules are mounted and secured to the racks. The modules are then mounted to the racking system and connected in series to each other. The entire array is connected to a junction that leads to the system’s inverter.  Inverters are most often mounted on an interior wall of the garage in close proximity to your homes' subpanel and electric meter. AC and DC disconnects are also part of the system and are installed to allow the flow of current to and from the inverter to be shut off if needed.

A completed system will deliver many years of continual savings. Yes! Energy Series™ solar modules and inverters carry limited product warranties of 25 years on solar modules and 10 years on inverters.  Yes! Energy Series systems have a life expectancy of 35 – 45 years.
